Experience mushrooms that are massively tasty, while financing projects that have a larger impact on our global community
Welcome to Mushroom Incubator, our social enterprise based in Coburg North. Our organisation aims to make progress on some of the big issues that, we argue, should be concerning for everyone. All money raised will be given to innovative charities with global goals.
Dr Tim Flannery, Chief Councillor, Climate Council.
Our practices
Our growing practices from inoculation, thru to fruiting, and finally transportation will all be geared towards being as environmentally & socially-conscious as possible. You can read about what we have implemented already in our practices space.
Sustainability
In the future all mushrooms will hopefully be grown using sustainable practices that include mitigation measures used throughout, to reduce both environmental impact while ensuring business-model survival.
Note, we haven’t reached a scale that we can really embed some of these practices into our business yet, as we’re still developing our growing methods and thus changing too much. We should be able to follow these up once we’ve iterated our growing method, presuming we’ve validated our financial feasibility.
Innovation
In the longer term we hope to establishing an ‘open-source’ model of innovation, with all growing processes & technology developed for use at low-cost, especially for developing countries.
Note, we haven’t reached critical mass that we can prototype novel methods for cultivation, although we have ideas to develop that hopefully remove all plastic waste from our growing process. We may be able to follow these up if we’re financially feasible. You can help us validate our feasibility by buying some mushrooms!
